How Long Does a ClickPay Payment Take? Cutoffs and Holidays
Short answer
An e-check (ACH) payment submitted before 7:59 pm Central on a business day is processed that day and usually leaves your bank account within one to two business days. After the cutoff, or on a weekend or Federal Reserve holiday, it is processed the next business day. Card payments have a later cutoff, 11:59 pm Central, but can take three to four business days to settle. ClickPay's terms require you to schedule payments at least one business day before your due date.
The short version
| Payment type | Cutoff (Central time) | Leaves your account | Settles |
|---|---|---|---|
| E-check (ACH) | 7:59 pm on a business day | Usually 1–2 business days after processing | About the next business day |
| Credit or debit card | 11:59 pm on a business day | Authorised immediately | 3–4 business days |
| AutoPay | Runs about 4 am Eastern on the scheduled day | As e-check or card above | As above |
The cutoffs come from section 12 of ClickPay’s current terms, last updated in December 2024. The settlement times come from ClickPay’s own resident FAQ. ClickPay’s site now calls itself “LOFT Payments by ClickPay”, but the timing rules are unchanged.
What a “business day” means
ClickPay’s terms define a business day as Monday to Friday, excluding Federal Reserve holidays. That is narrower than most people assume. Weekends never count, and nor do holidays that your employer may ignore, like Columbus Day and Veterans Day.
Federal Reserve holidays ahead (from the Federal Reserve’s own schedule):
| Date | Holiday |
|---|---|
| Wed 11 Nov 2026 | Veterans Day |
| Thu 26 Nov 2026 | Thanksgiving |
| Fri 25 Dec 2026 | Christmas |
| Fri 1 Jan 2027 | New Year’s Day |
| Mon 18 Jan 2027 | Martin Luther King Jr. Day |
| Mon 15 Feb 2027 | Washington’s Birthday |
| Mon 31 May 2027 | Memorial Day |
| Mon 5 Jul 2027 | Independence Day (observed) |
| Mon 6 Sep 2027 | Labor Day |
| Mon 11 Oct 2027 | Columbus Day |
| Thu 11 Nov 2027 | Veterans Day |
| Thu 25 Nov 2027 | Thanksgiving |
When a holiday falls on a Saturday — Juneteenth and Christmas in 2027 — the Federal Reserve stays open on the Friday before, so that Friday is a business day.
Rent is due on the 1st, and 1 January 2027 is a Friday holiday. A payment submitted on the evening of Thursday 31 December after the cutoff will not process until Monday 4 January. Pay by Wednesday 30 December to be safe.
ClickPay’s help centre also says payments made after 3 pm on the day before a bank holiday may not process until the next business day. Treat the afternoon before a holiday as already too late.
Worked examples
Friday evening e-check. You pay at 9 pm Eastern on Friday — after the 7:59 pm Central cutoff. It is processed Monday and usually leaves your account Monday or Tuesday.
Rent due Monday the 1st. ClickPay’s terms require scheduling at least one business day before the due date, which is Friday. If you submit on Sunday, it processes Monday — the due date itself, with no margin.
Card payment on the 30th. The charge appears on your card at once, but settlement can take three to four business days. If your property counts payments when funds arrive rather than when submitted, that gap matters.
When your landlord sees it
This is the part ClickPay’s own pages say least about. ClickPay records your payment straight away, but your property manager’s ledger is a separate system. Balances move between them in uploads several times per billing cycle, not in real time — so your payment can show as completed in ClickPay for a day or more before your ledger reflects it.
Whether a payment counts as “on time” from the moment you submit or the moment it arrives is set by your lease or association rules, not ClickPay. If the rules are unclear, ask your property manager in writing and keep the answer.
Statuses in your payment history
- Pending or processing — accepted, waiting for a processing day or for the bank transfer to settle.
- Completed or settled — the money has moved.
- Returned — your bank sent it back, for example for insufficient funds. ClickPay never retries a returned payment; you must make a new one.
- Voided or cancelled — stopped before processing.
Is there a faster option?
Not really. We found no same-day or expedited option in ClickPay’s material.
- Phone payments are no faster and cost more: ClickPay’s help centre gives a fee of $6.95 to $9.95, and the automated line only handles full-balance payments for single-unit accounts.
- Cards have a later cutoff — 11:59 pm Central rather than 7:59 pm — so a card can beat the e-check deadline on the night before a due date. You will pay the card fee, and settlement still takes days.
Why the same payment can show three different dates
Residents are often confused because one payment carries several dates, each recorded by a different system:
- Submitted date — when you pressed Pay in ClickPay. This is on your confirmation email.
- Processed date — the business day ClickPay sends it to the bank. After the cutoff, on a weekend or on a holiday, this is the next business day.
- Debit date — when the money leaves your bank account, usually one to two business days after processing for an e-check.
- Posted date — when your property applies it to your ledger, which depends on its next balance upload.
If your property disputes whether you paid on time, the submitted date and confirmation number are your evidence. Screenshot the confirmation page the moment you pay — it is quicker than asking ClickPay to retrieve it later, and it shows the exact time.
How to never pay late through ClickPay
- Pay two business days before the due date, not one. It absorbs a holiday you forgot.
- Pay before 7 pm Central — earlier than the cutoff, in case a page is slow.
- Check the Federal Reserve calendar above before month-end payments in November, December and January.
- Use AutoPay one to three business days before the due date; our ClickPay AutoPay guide explains the amount options.
- Keep the confirmation until the payment shows on your ledger.

Frequently asked questions
- What is ClickPay's cutoff time?
- ClickPay's current terms set 7:59 pm Central (8:59 pm Eastern) for e-check payments and 11:59 pm Central for card payments. Anything after that is processed the next business day. Older ClickPay FAQs give 9 pm Eastern for e-checks, so treat 7:59 pm Central as the safe deadline.
- Does ClickPay process payments on weekends?
- You can submit a payment any day, but ClickPay processes on business days only — Monday to Friday, excluding Federal Reserve holidays. A payment made on Saturday is processed on Monday, or Tuesday if Monday is a holiday.
- Why is my ClickPay payment still pending?
- Usually because it has not yet reached a processing day, or the bank transfer has not settled. E-check payments typically debit 24 to 48 business hours after processing; card payments take three to four business days to settle. A payment pending for longer than that is worth a call to ClickPay.
- If I pay on the due date, is it late?
- It can be. ClickPay's terms require the scheduled date to be at least one business day before the due date and say ClickPay is not responsible for late charges. Whether your property counts a payment as on time when submitted or when received is up to your property manager.
- Can I pay ClickPay by phone to make it faster?
- Phone payments are not faster and cost more. ClickPay's help centre puts the phone fee at $6.95 to $9.95 depending on the property, and its automated line only accepts full-balance payments for single-unit accounts.
